When we really care about a major issue like social equity or climate action, it can feel daunting to make a start. What if we mess up or make things worse? What if it’s not enough or too late?
While the journey of a thousand miles may begin with a single step, there are things that could be done before the journey starts. Like putting on shoes and having a destination in mind.
When I used to coach runners for the TC 10K, people often needed help finding motivation to get out the door, especially on a cold rainy morning. My advice was simply “put on your shoes.” It was a lot easier to convince yourself to put on your shoes than it was to convince yourself to go for a 6k run in the rain - and it worked.
So if you’ve been thinking about starting or improving on an Inclusivity Diversity Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Plan or Climate Action plan for your business, what would it look like to simply “put on your shoes?”
My invitation to you is to make having a chat with me the first thing you do. The thing you do to kick-start your journey to an equitable and sustainable future for all.
Wherever you are at on your sustainability journey, let's plan a 1-month sprint. We can discuss vision, draft goals, and map out a plan. Or you can pick my brain on whatever issues you are hoping to tackle.
